about us

Kathleen was raised in Vermont. She grew up hiking in the Green Mountains, sailing on Lake Champlain, and following her older brother, John, around on his various adventures.

After high school, Kathleen took a year off from school to work in Washington, DC and travel to New Zealand. But when the year was up, she was happy to start college at the University of Virginia. While there, she spent a great deal of her time working on the school newspaper, The Cavalier Daily, where she met a young man from New York City.

Jonathan grew up on the island of Manhattan. He spent his days playing basketball, falling in love with the New York Mets, and taking his younger brother, Michael, on adventures of their own.

Jonathan had known for a long time that he wanted to become an architect. So when he graduated from high school, he was excited to head to the University of Virginia where he would study architecture. But his love of sports and talent for writing drew him to The Cavalier Daily Sports Department. It was there that he met a girl from Vermont.

After they finished at UVa, Kathleen and Jonathan each took off on different paths. She  meandered through Rome, to London, and eventually ended up in Chicago; meanwhile, he worked hard in Charlottesville and New York, landing at the the Graduate School of Design at Harvard.

When Jonathan scheduled a trip to Chicago to attend a conference, he thought to look up his old college friend. Kathleen invited Jonathan to a party at her house. He went. A month later, she found herself visiting family in Cambridge. Jonathan invited Kathleen to dinner. She went.

In the months that followed, there were hundreds of emails, phone calls, and plane tickets.  He learned to appreciate nature and she developed a soft spot for the Mets. They fell in love. And now they're getting married...

We hope you can be there to celebrate with us!
